Introduction

The Maritime Profile's main purpose is to facilitate the research on ports and maritime transport in Latin American and Caribbean countries, for ECLAC and other institutions. Besides maps and graphics which help obtaining an overview of the industry, additional sources with more detailed information are included. Studies carried out by ECLAC and other institutions are also described and internet links included, thus facilitating the exchange of information among academics, consultants, authorities and international organizations working on the industry.
