The session is the most important meeting of each biennium for ECLAC. It provides a forum for the consideration of issues of importance for the development of the countries of the region and for a review of the activities of the Commission. The session also enables the Governments of member States to apprise themselves of the work carried out by ECLAC during the past biennium and to define the mandates that will guide the Commission's work in the future by adopting the programme of work and the calendar of conferences.
