Statistics and information management for development

This component of the work programme focuses on the collection, systemization and dissemination of economic and social data within the subregion. A primary objective of this subprogramme is to assist Caribbean countries in overcoming the deficiencies of the information infrastructure. By building their capacity in this field, it is also expected that countries will be able to improve the supply of information to the ECLAC/CDCC secretariat, which functions as a focal point for the collection and dissemination of data throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region. It is anticipated that such developments would also support the subregion's transition to a Caribbean Information Society.
