Linkages with the international economy, integration and cooperation

Among the issues being addressed within this subject area are transport costs and their effects on intraregional trade, new trade arrangements proposed between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and other economic groupings, intraregional investment, and macroeconomic convergence among countries in the subregion. Also under this subprogramme, the ECLAC/CDCC secretariat is continuing to support the Caribbean integration process (which includes the introduction of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy); and to provide the technical assistance needed by Caribbean countries to maximise the benefits to be derived from existing or future trade liberalization arrangements.
