30 November 2023|Announcement

The presentation will take place on Tuesday, December 12 at a virtual event led by the United Nations regional organization’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will launch on Tuesday, December 12 a Platform for cluster and other territorial productive articulation initiatives, which seeks to identify, articulate and strengthen the numerous initiatives of this kind that are being conducted throughout the region, as well as to increase their use as a mechanism for organizing productive development efforts in countries.

This virtual event will feature opening remarks by ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, and by Ulrich Höcker, Director of the Economic and Social Development and Employment Division at Germany’s GIZ.

After that, representatives of international organizations and specialists in this area will analyze the potential of the Platform for furthering construction of a regional agenda of partnership and territorial initiatives that would contribute to the region’s sustainable and inclusive production development.

ECLAC has been promoting the implementation of productive development policies centered on collaborative processes and participatory governance in Latin American and Caribbean countries, with a focus on cluster initiatives and other partnership and territorial initiatives, such as business networks or production chains.

One step in that direction is the building of this Platform of cluster initiatives and other partnership and territorial initiatives for production development, which will facilitate the identification, characterization and georeferencing of these experiences, featuring an interactive map that will provide valuable information about the initiatives.

The Platform’s objectives include the following:

  • Foster the exchange of experiences and good practices
  • Facilitate training programs
  • Promote gatherings, projects and actions among initiatives from different areas, countries or regions
  • Undertake research on issues of shared interest
  • Develop work methodologies and tools
  • Encourage regional productive integration.

All those interested in participating in the platform and related activities can register free of charge to receive information.
