Ejecución del proyecto de clínicas jurídicas con el objetivo de ofrecer servicios legales gratuitos a la mujer para el ejercicio y defensa de sus derechos;

Capacitación de los técnicos de la Oficina Nacional de Estadística (ONE), en el uso de indicadores censales que midan la contribución de la mujer al desarrollo;

Estudio sobre la violencia sexual contra mujeres y niñas;

Acciones de formulación de políticas, planes y estrategias para los diferentes sectores, tales como el Plan Decenal de Educación, el Proyecto de Modernización del Sector Salud, el Plan Nacional de Alimentación y Nutrición, el Proyecto de Reforma Social y los Lineamientos Básicos de Desarrollo;

Programas de fortalecimiento institucional con la finalidad de mejorar la capacidad de gestión y de servicio de la Dirección General de Promoción de la Mujer (DGPM);

Creación, en 1997, de la Red Nacional de la Mujer Rural, en cumplimiento de la Ley 55-97 conforme a la cual la mujer tiene derecho a la tierra en el marco de la Reforma Agraria;

En 1998, creación de la Red de apoyo a la mujer víctima de la violencia, integrada por instituciones gubernamentales y organizaciones no gubernamentales de apoyo a las mujeres;

En 1998, creación del Comité de vigilancia contra la violencia, para la prevención del abuso infantil y la violencia contra la mujer, formado por miembros de la sociedad civil y de la población en general.

Initiatives to amend all legislation that discriminates against women;

Programmes to train planning experts in the Ministries of State, sectoral offices and the National Planning Office;

Implementation of the legal clinics project with the objective of offering free legal services to women so that they can exercise and defend their rights;

Training of specialists from the National Statistical Office in the use of census indicators capable of measuring the contribution made by women to the development process;

Research into the issue of sexual violence against women and girls;

Initiatives to draw up policies, plans and strategies for the different sectors, such as the Ten-Year Plan for Education, the Project for the Modernization of the Health Sector, the National Plan for Food and Nutrition, the Project for Social Reform and the Development Guidelines;

In 1997, establishment of the National Rural Women’s Network pursuant to Law 55-97, according to which women are entitled to own land under the agrarian reform programme;

In 1998, establishment of the network to support women victims of violence, which comprises government bodies and non-governmental organizations that support women;

In 1998, establishment of the watch committee for the prevention of child abuse and violence against women, composed of representatives of civil society and members of the general public.

Established by the Executive Branch as a mechanism for strengthening the management capabilities of the General Department for the Advancement of Women. The following institutions are members: the Ministries of State for Agriculture, Education, Public Health and Social Assistance, Labour and Industry and Trade; the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency; the National Population and Family Council, the Vocational Schools of the Armed Forces, the General Office for the Advancement of Frontier Communities, the National Planning Office, the National Housing Institute, the Dominican Agrarian Institute, the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, the National Children's Council, the Commission for Prison Reform, the Community Development Office, Women in Development, Plan Sierra, the Development Institute of the South-East and the National Technical and Professional Training Institute.
