OBJETIVOS Y FUNCIONES:

Asegurar la aplicación de las políticas del Gobierno dirigidas a integrar plenamente a la mujer en todas las esferas del desarrollo nacional;

Cumplir las funciones de secretaría del National Advisory Council on Women;

Asesorar a los organismos oficiales y a las organizaciones no gubernamentales sobre los temas que preocupan y afectan a la mujer;

Proporcionar servicios de enlace con organismos y organizaciones nacionales, regionales e internacionales dedicados al tema de la mujer;

Elaborar y difundir información sobre temas de la mujer. El Bureau proporciona información a través de un centro de documentación y de recursos.

OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS:

To ensure the implementation of Government's Policy for the full integration of women in all areas of national development;

Secretariat of the National Advisory Council on Women;

Advises Government Agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations on matters of concern to and affecting women;

Provides Liaison Services to Local, Regional and International Agencies/Organizations dealing with women's affairs;

Prepares and disseminates information on women's issues. The Bureau provides reference services through a Documentation/Resource Centre.
PRINCIPALES ACTIVIDADES:

El Bureau pone en marcha o participa en diversas actividades dirigidas a asegurar la igualdad en materia de género en esferas como el liderazgo, la capacitación, el establecimiento de redes y la colaboración entre organismos, el asesoramiento jurídico, la generación de ingresos, la reforma legislativa y la integración de las cuestiones relativas a la mujer.

 MAIN ACTIVITIES:

The Bureau initiates and/or participates in a variety of activities to further the development of gender equality in such areas as leadership training, public education, interagency networking and collaboration, legal aid, income generation, legislative reform and Gender Mainstreaming.

Dar asesoría al ministerio encargado de asuntos de la mujer sobre temas pertinentes, en respuesta a consultas concretas o por iniciativa de la institución.
