The Executive Secretary Alicia Bárcena gave an overview of Latin America and the Caribbean’s economic and social situation and informed participants about the Commission’s priorities for tackling the region’s most pressing challenges.
In her speech, ECLAC’s Executive Secretary called for forging alternative paths and societal projects in which citizens are the subject, not just the object, of transformations that improve their conditions.
The renowned economist from the University of Cambridge delivered the XVI Raúl Prebisch Lecture in Chile, where he was received by the Executive Secretary of this United Nations organization, Alicia Bárcena.
The academic program will take place between July 15 and September 30, 2019 at the headquarters of the United Nations regional organization in Santiago, Chile.
