The 4th Meeting of the Regional Expert Group on Water Resources in Latin America and the Caribbean, held on December 13, 2023, focused on collaborative efforts in water resource management. Key topics included the upcoming Regional Water Dialogues of 2024, and the ROSA project. The meeting emphasized the importance of synergy and collaborative action among various international organizations and experts, and detailed plans for the Regional Water Dialogues 2024.

On December 13, 2023, the Natural Resources Division's Water and Energy Unit of ECLAC organized the 4th meeting of the regional expert group on water resources in Latin America and the Caribbean. This group comprises over twenty representatives from renowned institutions focused on the region's water resources sector.

The meeting led and moderated by Dr. Silvia L. Saravia Matus, Economic Affairs Officer in charge of Water Affairs at ECLAC, had the aim to review previous activities and events held by the diverse institutions and explore collaborative opportunities in the future. Further synergy was evaluated in highlight for the upcoming Regional Water Dialogues of 2024, which also serve as a regional networking point in preparation for the next World Water Forum 2024 held in Bali. 

The ROSA project (Network and Observatory for the Sustainability of Water) was also discussed, where potential synergies were identified and future collaborations were mentioned. The meeting concluded with collaborative agreements that further accelerate the SDG 6 goals and advance regional development.

Towards the end of the meeting, an open space for discussion was given for experts to discuss and contribute with each other and provide more information on the potential synergies that they see feasible among all the institutions present.
